About the wine
In the French port of Le Havre, Jean Leon secretly smuggled himself onto a ship bound for the USA. He was soon discovered by a sailor who decided to keep his presence a secret. This reserve is an homage to that pact with a stranger that changed Jean Leon's life forever. This limited production wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and comes from an exceptional 16-hectare vineyard with the same name.
Tasting note
In the glass, intense cherry red colour with fireplace red reflections. Complex on the nose with nuances of dark fruit, blackberry, plum, in the background vanilla and fine roasted aromas. Full-bodied fruity on the palate, together with licorice, cloves and fine tannins. Delicious finale with roasted coffee notes. It goes well with game, hearty, spicy meat dishes and aged cheese.

Vinification
De-stemming and gentle pressing of the grapes. 2-week fermentation and maceration time in stainless steel tanks. Then 2 years of aging in small American barriques, during which the biological acid degradation also takes place. The wine is bottled in May, then aged in the bottle for a further two years to develop full harmony.
