Egg, egg, egg — Verpoorten! The world's best-selling eggnog impresses with an unchanged original recipe and is popular both pure and in fine cuisine or in drinks. Its roots go back to the 17th century, when an avocado-based drink came to Europe from Brazil. Since the fruit did not thrive here, it was replaced by the “egg yellow” — the basis for the recipe that Eugen Verpoorten perfected in 1876.

Tasting note
Creamy, full-bodied eggnog with intense aromas of egg yolk, vanilla and fine sweetness. Soft and velvety on the palate with harmonious balance and a long, mild finish.

Vinification
The natives of the Amazon region in the Portuguese colony of Brazil, the Tupo-Guarani Indians, once mixed an alcoholic beverage based on avocado fruit. Colonial drivers imported the avocado tree and the recipe to Europe in the 17th century, but the trees did not want to thrive here. But how could the avocado be replaced? The solution was, in the truest sense of the word, the “yellow of the egg” similar in taste and operating table. This is how Eugen Verpoorten finally developed his special recipe in 1876, according to which the delicious Verpoorten Original is still produced today.
