About the wine
The Superiore from Allegrini is obtained from carefully selected altitudes in DOC Valpolicella and consists of the traditional grape varieties of the Veneto region. The vines are over 30 years old, which results in a low yield and a high concentration of the grapes. This Superiore matures for about a year in large oak barrels and in French barriques to develop its complexity and depth.
Tasting note
The wine is bright ruby red with garnet accents. The seductive aroma is characterized by ripe red fruit, in particular plums and plums, and is complemented by a fine spice and a touch of cassis. The soft start gives way to an intense, velvety fruit that reflects the aromas of the nose, complemented by subtle notes of white pepper and juniper. The ripe tannins give the wine structure, while it turns into a powerful and warming, long-lasting finish.
Culinary recommendation
As an accompaniment to pot roast, lamb gigot or tagliata. It also goes well with venison stew, roast beef in mushroom sauce and ripe pecorino.
