Tasting note
Typical for its maturity and fullness, this wine is wide and fat, with a dollop of clotted cream. There is an exciting line of lime zest and lemon in the background. There are also marmalade, apricots and stony, pebble notes. The spicy, high acidity keeps everything in check.
Culinary recommendation
Try it with a spicy Spanish paella.
Vinification
The Stellenbosch Manor range pays homage to the traditional history of some of Stellenbosch's most famous grape varieties, which were planted in the distant past and have produced wines of rank and name that pave the way for South Africa's wine future. A cask fermented version of Manor Chenin Blanc from Stellenrust, which uses older, 52-year-old vines from Bottelary. Fermentation takes place in French barriques, 16% of which are new and the rest are used.
