About the wine
The Schlossberg stretches around the imposing castle complex of Ortenberg Castle, which is situated on a rocky granite ledge — the barren soil on which our vines grow. This elevation forms a distinctive transition from the cool Black Forest to the warmer region of the Upper Rhine Graben. The unique microclimate and the south-facing, over 50% steep slopes, which resemble an amphitheatre, create ideal conditions for the production of top-quality aromatic wines.

Tasting note
On the nose, there are complex aromas of wild berries, undergrowth and fine mocha/roasted aromas. The palate is complex, with lots of refinement and a beautiful elegance.
Culinary recommendation
Wonderful accompaniment to all kinds of stews — whether it's lamb gigot, beef shoulder, roast pork or ossobuco.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested with the utmost care and with a very low yield of only 48 hl/ha. Fermentation is followed by ageing in new barriques.
