About the wine
The winemaker from the South African winery Buitenverwachting absolutely masters his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this white wine, which originates in the graceful and fertile landscape of the coastal region. If we can offer something special for Christmas 2018, it is this distinctive white wine 2017 — Sauvignon Blanc. Tasting note
The wine is pale lemon-yellow in color and has a bouquet reminiscent of green figs with hints of gooseberries and green peppers. The wine is dry, full-bodied and has a long, persistent finish.
Culinary recommendation
Try this wine with sardine escabeche or grilled peppers with romanescodip.
Vinification
Rooted in deep granite soils and cooled by shallow sea breezes, Buitenverwachting produces an excellent Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were harvested between February and March. The berries were macerated with the skin for 12 hours before they were pressed. The must was fermented at 12-16°C for 21 days. The further aging took place on yeast in steel tanks before this white wine was bottled.
