Javier San Pedro Ortega was born in Laguardia (Rioja) to the fifth generation of a family of winemakers. Javier produces his wines with grapes from his own vineyards, as the San Pedro family owns more than 100 ha of vineyards in Laguardia. As a 5-year-old child, he cleaned his grandfather's cellar and made his first wine at 17 (2005). After another 8 years, in the 2013 harvest, he had the opportunity to give the family business his personal touch and develop his project. This is based on three different wine lines. On the one hand, Cueva de Lobos is defined by modern, aromatic and delicious wines. On the other hand, the Viuda Negra line, dedicated to rediscovering old vines or old vineyards in order to best highlight their peculiarities. This young project was soon born and took on the name BODEGAS JAVIER SAN PEDRO ORTEGA. An innovative winery with a young team that wants to stand out from traditional Rioja wine and surprise wine lovers. Javier tells us: “We believe that our wines should tell a story.
