Tasting note
On the nose, an inviting fresh fruit note of peach, apricot and the finest blossom honey. A multi-faceted bouquet. Wonderful fruit-acid balance, powerful, lots of extract and minerals noticeable. Convincing length at the end. It's a delicacy.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with starters, cold meat platters, terrines, white meats, fish, cheese and desserts. An ideal accompaniment to a mild, green Thai curry or even with crustaceans and mussels. A perfectly fried Viennese veal schnitzel or roast onion are also suitable.
Vinification
Smaragd is the name introduced for the first time for wines from 1986 for the best and most valuable wines in the Wachau region. These particularly precious wines, with a minimum alcohol content of 12.5% by volume, can only be obtained in the best years. Wines with the name Smaragd may only be sold from May 1 of the year following the harvest. Emerald lizards feel particularly at home on the Wachau vineyard terraces and have become a symbol of Wachau wine at full maturity.
