Lama del Tenente Salento IGT 2020 - Castel di Salve

Francesco Winspeare's ancestors had cultivated wine on the southernmost end of Apulia for generations. A few years ago, Francesco began to cultivate grapes using modern methods, producing wines that need no comparison in their price segment, which are rich but not difficult, as is generally expected — or feared — from southern wines. The focus is always on local old grape varieties such as Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and Montepulciano. These are the varieties whose wines characterize a landscape with their culture and people better than pictures and words. Instead of alcoholic heaviness, fineness and richness of nuances are required, but strong in character but not rustic. All of this has been masterfully achieved in the Lama del Tenente. The llama is of great race and aristocratic stature. It smells of fresh blackberries, cinnamon and shows ripe notes of black cherries. On the palate, it is seductively soft with a beautiful melting aftertaste, which harmoniously embeds the restrained tannin.
