About the wine

Tasting note
Rich purple. Nose of red berries, flower blossoms, compote, shaped by the characters of the Marcelan grape. Full, fruity, spicy on the palate. Berries and black chocolate with a long finish. In contrast to the rest of the estate's red wines, Illico did not grow on slate but river gravel soils. Aged in concrete tanks, it retains a lot of fruit in addition to fine minerality and is a perfect wine for light days. Marcelan is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. The aim of breeding was to combine the finesse of cabernet with the heat resistance of grenache. The new variety produces a very low yield, is small-berried and very robust against vine diseases.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with Mediterranean dishes such as grilled vegetables, tapas or spicy ratatouille.
Vinification
The Illico cuvée is made from Cinsault, Marselan and Carignan grapes and aged in concrete tanks to preserve the freshness and fruit intensity of the grapes. By avoiding wood storage, the result is an accessible, lively red wine with distinctive fruit aromas.
