Tasting note
Open and accessible on the nose, distinctive spice with aromas of thyme, tarragon, fennel and salted almonds, also a juicy fruit of quince and nashi pear, wet stone on the palate and chalky, compact and focused, with a long finish. Grüner Veltliner Steinwerk is very accessible even in young people, but also has potential for another 3 to 5 years.
Vinification
The backstage line stands for wines away from the classic Wachau styles. Whether rare grape varieties, alternative aging or red wines from Pinot Noir — everything is possible! After an extended maceration period in marble and granite barrels, the Grüner Veltliner Spitzer Graben stonework is fermented spontaneously and with a small portion of whole berries. After storage of 12 months on fine yeast, the wine is unfiltered and bottled with a small addition of sulfur without fining.
