About the wine
Santa Duc - family owned since 1874 - is a permanent institution on the southern Rhone and the leading winery in Gigondas. In 1985, the father gave this treasure to his son Yves Gras, exceptional talent, traditionalist, visionary. Returning to the old virtues and with his great terroir wines, he has made a significant contribution to bringing Gigondas out of the shadow of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For decades, his wines have been reliably among the best in the appellation. They impressively demonstrate that Gigondas not only produce rough, alcoholic and excessive wines, but also fascinating, expressive and rich in finesse.

Tasting note
Exuberant, opulent fruit and intensely scented florality are restrained by a strict minerality and somewhat pointed but ripe tannins and give the wine a juicy freshness and the necessary, gripping structure. A true culinary delight that impressively expresses the power of nature in this unique place on the Rhône.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with light summer dishes such as goat cheese salads, grilled fish or Mediterranean antipasti
Vinification
Selective harvesting by hand followed by a second table selection in the cellar. Slow, temperature-controlled fermentation of partially stemmed berries in steel tanks, aging for 18 months, partly in 3,600L Stockinger barrels and in 800L terracotta amphoras. Not embellished and unfiltered.
