Diebskinzig Weisser Satz Badischer Landwein 2020 - Weingut Jürgen von der Mark

Jürgen von der Marks Reben is at home on Tuniberg in Markgräfler Land (Baden). He knows and appreciates Burgundy very well and so he started a small production of Pinot Noir from very old vines in 2003. Over the years, other varieties have been added, from which he makes very fine, Burgundian-inspired wines. In 2015, Jürgen planted the Diebskinzig vineyard plot with 14 different varieties in mixed sets. The Burgundy varieties Weissburgunder, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay are the most important. The varieties are harvested and processed together, as was common practice in previous centuries. The grapes are then pressed as whole grapes at high pressure according to the old Burgundian press tradition without movement. The pressing process takes 16 hours and the result is an extremely bare must that results in very precise wines. The wine is aged in concrete eggs and stored on full yeast for 11 months. Wonderfully fresh, complex and long.
