About the wine
Santa Duc - family owned since 1874 - is a permanent institution on the southern Rhone and the leading winery in Gigondas. In 1985, the father gave this treasure to his son Yves Gras, exceptional talent, traditionalist, visionary. Returning to the old virtues and with his great terroir wines, he has made a significant contribution to bringing Gigondas out of the shadow of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For decades, his wines have been reliably among the best in the appellation. They impressively demonstrate that Gigondas not only produce rough, alcoholic and excessive wines, but also fascinating, expressive and rich in finesse.

Tasting note
Pure harmony - The wine has an incredible and expressive blance, spiciness, body and texture. Wonderfully harmonious, intensive interplay, wild, meaty and at the same time floral, sweet. The not too dark, red fruit paired with moist soil, licorice, anise and undergrowth. On the palate with natural joy of interplay, the ironic soft nature, passion without sweetness, the ripe fruit never sweet, with finesse, fine tannins, tart and ethereal notes, powerful, lean and wild and yet with a calm touch, fresh and playful until the end. Intensity, teamwork and great entertainment in style!
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with braised lamb, game dishes, aged hard cheese
Vinification
Selective harvesting by hand followed by a second table selection in the cellar. Slow, temperature-controlled fermentation of partially stemmed berries in steel tanks, aging for 18 months, partly in 3,600L Stockinger barrels and in 800L terracotta amphoras. Not embellished and unfiltered.
