The Champagne Delamotte Brut Rosé is prepared using the traditional Saignée method, in which dyes and aromatic complexity are extracted directly from the grape skins. This memorization process is rarely used in Champagne, although it gives the wines structure and elegance. The Pinot Noir of this cuvée comes from the Grands Crus sites of the villages of Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne, on the south-eastern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. The Chardonnay, on the other hand, comes exclusively from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Each cuvée Delamotte, including the rosé, contains Chardonnay. Through the joint fermentation of the two grape varieties — in contrast to a blend of two different wines — the complexity of each wine is preserved and the elegant saignée hue is obtained. The balanced harmony between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay gives the Champagne Delamotte Rosé its beautiful salmon pink. After bottling, Delamotte Rosé spends three to four years on the lees before being disgorged.
