About the wine

The Californian veteran with Ticino roots produces extremely long-lasting wines year after year, which often only become available after eight or twelve years, lose their strictness and gain enormous depth. In other words, Togni is the kind of traditionalist you could wish for. Insiders have known for a long time how good ripe Tognis are. They compare them to the best Pauillacs. And this is confirmed time and again by comparisons of cabernets of the same age from Bordelais and California. This was the 1990 vintage, where Togni won ahead of Château Gruaud Larose and Château Leoville Las Cases, as well as Chateau Latour, Pauillac.

Tasting note
The nose smells intensely of cassis, cranberry, hot peppers and Mediterranean herbs, as well as some undergrowth. On the palate, with soft tannins and juicy acidity, as well as a medium-weight body that is not opulent, but shows a certain Bordeaux elegance.
Vinification
Made from the same grape material as the first wine (Spring Mountain), but without the addition of pressed wine. The maturation was carried out in second and third covered French oak barriques. Tanbark Hill therefore has less wood embossing in favor of softer and sweeter tannins. The aroma, depth and finesse are clearly in line with the Grand Vin, except that it is available earlier and you can access it from a young age.
