About the wine
Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay were not recognized as grape varieties by the former vineyard regulations and were cultivated for the first time in Sicily at Tenuta Regaleali in 1985. The grapes come from a single vineyard in the upper part of the San Francesco hill at an altitude of 570 meters approximately facing south-west and which has medium-heavy soils of sand, clay and chalk. The wine ages for 18 months in 225 liters of fine and medium grain barrels. The wine is powerful and austere and shows the typical freshness of different latitudes.

Tasting note
Dense ruby red with a large core. Compact and concentrated on the nose, with notes of ripe cassis, blackberries, licorice, fireplace smoke and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is strong and structured, with juicy but present tannins. Combined, harmonious power. Black berries and lots of spice. Multi-faceted, long aftertaste, wonderfully accompanied by roasted aromas.
Culinary recommendation
Excellent with grilled or fried meat as well as with mature cheese.
Vinification
The showpiece of Tasca d'Almerita. A single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from old vines. After pressing the grapes, the mash is fermented in wooden vats and then aged for twelve months in 300-liter French barriques (Allier, Tronçais).
