About the wine
Since August 2009, the name “Vin de France “has replaced the former category of table wines. This is a national wine classification without geographical indication of origin (SIG — sans indication géographique). It enables producers to cuvet grape varieties and base wines from different French wine-growing regions. In addition, the vintage information is more flexible: Up to 15% of grapes may come from another vintage — but at least 85% must come from the declared harvest year. The introduction of “Vin de France” has not only relaxed regulations, but has also significantly improved qualitative perception. The category offers winemakers the opportunity to develop experimental cuvées that lie outside of specific appellations — often with a high level of precision, modern style and a clear variety profile.
