Tasting note
Deep cherry red with light purple reflections. On the nose, notes of cassis and black cherries, underlined by some leather, tobacco and black pepper. On the palate, the wine is very spicy, with aromas of dark berries and also phenolic notes. A medium-bodied wine with a robust structure and good aromatic persistence on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with dried meat or lamb with herbs.
Vinification
The grapes come from selected locations in Margreid and Kurtatsch. The vineyards are located at 240 to 350 m above sea level, on a gravelly, heavily calcareous soil. Mash fermentation and biological acid degradation in steel tanks take twelve days. The young wine is then refined for 18 months in Slavonian oak barriques.
