About the wine
“Vinum regum, rex vinorum”, known in German as “the wine of kings and the king of wines”, is an expression that has accompanied Barolo for centuries. This name goes perfectly with Mosconi, an outstanding single-vineyard wine from the historic area of Mosconi di Monforte d'Alba. The vines grow in south-southwest vineyards at an altitude of 360-400 meters above sea level.
Tasting note
Brilliant garnet red color. The strong bouquet reveals notes of sage, rosemary and forest soil, accompanied by floral nuances and a touch of spices. On the palate, the Barolo develops generously and elegantly, with a distinctive tannin structure underlining its strength of character. It ends in a long and impressive finale.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with truffle risotto, tagliatelle al ragù di salsiccia or lamb chops.
Vinification
The grapes of this exquisite wine come from the renowned Mosconi sub-appellation in Monforte d'Alba. Careful destemming and pressing is carried out immediately after harvesting, followed by a 7-day maceration on the skins at a controlled 30°C. The wine is then aged in 500-liter oak barrels for at least 18 months. The result is an impressive wine that is already ready to drink, but promises an exceptionally long lifespan.
