About the wine
Walter Massa met with a lot of incomprehension and shaking of his head in the 1980s when he decided to use the autochthonous Timorasso grape variety. It is mainly thanks to him that the variety is now being cultivated again by several winemakers in Piedmont. Walter Massa doesn't think much of fashion trends, but is nevertheless open to innovation. With great commitment and dedication to this variety, he brought in the first harvest of a single-varietal Timorasso in 1987.

Tasting note
Dark garnet red. The intense nose smells of ripe cherries, blackberries and cranberries, with spices and forest soil joining in the background. On the palate, with ripe balsamic fruit, strong structure and fine drinking flow.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with rich meat dishes, game, mature cheese and pasta with strong sauces.
Vinification
The grapes for Monleale come from various locations around the village of the same name. Handpicked, traditionally vinified with native yeasts. Aged for approx. 22 months in used barriques and tonneaux barrels and then in the bottle for at least one year. The wine is bottled unfiltered.
