About the wine

Tasting note
The Babylonstoren Shiraz is ruby colored in the glass and smells irresistibly of cool cassis, pencil chips, fine spices and black pepper. Deep aromas of ripe fruit and notes of dusty violets join in and give the senses a beguiling bouquet and prefeud at first sip. On the palate, intense nuances of ripe cherries, soft plums and black currants develop, paired with a velvety mouthfeel and pure elegance, which end in a long-lasting and smooth finish.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with venison bourguignon, ribeyesteak with black pepper sauce, duck breast with beetroot risotto or baked ham with grilled fruit.
Vinification
The grapes are macerated with the skin for seven days and then the mash is fermented for another week. The wine is then aged in a combination of 70% new and 30% used second-generation French oak barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the syrah is removed from the yeast, sulfurized and aged in wooden barrels for a further 18 months before bottling.
