Tasting note
The Kerner is bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose is dominated by strong aromas of peach, green apple, pear, nutmeg, ash and alpine herbs. On the palate, the wine is dry and full-bodied with notes of grapefruit, lime, some almonds and pleasantly spicy notes, which result in a long-lasting and mineral-salty finish. A top kerner from lofty heights.

Vinification
The grapes for this Kerner come from south and south-east facing hillsides with an inclination of approx. 55% at 800-970 meters above sea level. There, the vines are rooted on mineral-rich, barren, shallow-based quartzphyllite weathered soil. After manual harvesting, there is a short maceration period before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures. The wine is then aged for about 10 months on fine lees, partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in large wooden barrels. The annual production is just around 25-30,000 bottles.
