Tasting note
The Steiner Riesling 17-22 shows a firework of aromas on the nose: fine pile yeasts, roasted nuts and almonds mix with the scent of fresh yeast pastries. There are also herbal notes of chamomile and notes of green and yellow apple. On the palate, it is silky, creamy with juicy melting and orchestral acidity. The wine is full-bodied, fluffy and soft and ends in a long, ethereal cool aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
This wine goes well with bagna cauda, sashimi from high-fat fish such as mackerel or sardines, and Szeged goulash.
Vinification
The individual vintages from 2017 to 2022 matured separately in half-piece barrels and were then brought together in a 5,000-liter barrel. Half of the wine was bottled unfiltered, unembellished and unsulphurated in autumn, while the other half serves as Solera mother and is refilled with reserve wines from 2023. The wine matured reductively under floor yeast without the influence of oxygen.
