About the product
In popular parlance, the fruits of mountain ash are often called “rowan berries.” The bitter, sour berries are not digestible raw. Rowan brandy, on the other hand, is a popular delicacy. For the wild rowan berry from Rochelt, only wild-growing, untreated rowan berries from the Baltic States and Finland are harvested by hand and sorted by color and size in a complex process to ensure that only defect-free and fully ripe berries are mashed in. Around 45 kg of rowan berries are needed for one liter of the coveted heart. The mash is naturally fermented, distilled twice and then matures in open glass balloons for at least eight years. The result is a ripe, strong brandy, with harmonious bitter and marzipan notes on the palate and delicate sweetness on the finish. The Rochelt wild rowan berry is 100% pure and unfiltered.
