Picturesque landscapes of Burgenland give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Austrian Weingut Wellanschitz creates this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Tasting note
Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate brightening. Delicately tobacco, fine herbal spice, a touch of heart cherries, subtle touch of precious wood, ripe plums. Complex, close-meshed, extract-sweet and persistent, juicy and sweet, fine, nourishing tannins, very good balance, chocolaty touch on the finish, very good length, safe aging potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes, game, pasta with spicy sauces and aged cheese.
Vinification
Hand harvesting, manual sorting before processing, 30-day spontaneous fermentation in 6000 lt. wooden fermentation stand, squeezing in the mash cake by hand, followed by biological acid degradation, maturing in 500 lt. barrels.
