About the wine

The Stina winery is located in a breath-taking location on the Riva, the waterfront of Bol, a picturesque town on the island of Brač off the southern Dalmatian coast of Croatia. The island is famous for its bright white stones, known locally as “Stina.” The winery itself is located in a historic building in the village, as the inscription on the façade still shows today: “The First Dalmatian Winegrowers' Cooperative”. The winegrowers' cooperative was founded in 1901, and this building was erected in 1903. Stina was founded by Jako Andabak in 2009 and has since become a benchmark for impressive wines made from classic Dalmatian grape varieties such as Posip and Plavac Mali.

Tasting note
Brilliant golden yellow with a slight greenish tinge. On the nose, intense scent of citrus fruits, apricots and ripe apples. Very elegant on the palate, aromas of exotic fruits, citrus and fine herbs. Wonderfully characteristic freshness of the Vugava grape in great harmony. The finale is wonderfully long and complex. The wonderfully special and autochthonous Vugava grape variety from Dalmatia originally comes from the island of Vis. The Vugava from winemaker Stina from Brač is a wonderfully fruity, fresh and harmonious white wine with the special and unique character of Dalmatia. The Vugava grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning to maintain freshness. Stina is the only commercial producer of this grape variety on the island and is constantly expanding its vineyards to bring this Viognier-like grape variety back to market.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled Mediterranean fish, all types of seafood and white meats.
Vinification
Harvest the grapes by hand in the early morning hours. Select the grapes in the cellar, let them cool down before pressing. Gentle pressing. Controlled fermentation in steel tanks. Vugava matures on lees in steel tanks using the Sur-Lie method for 6 months. Bottled at the winery
