About the wine
Treat your family and friends at Christmas dinner with this subtle white wine 2019 — Viognier. The winemaker from the South African winery Ridgeback absolutely masters his craft. Style and finesse are the characteristics of this white wine, which originates in the beautiful and sunny countryside of the Coastal Region. Tasting note
On the nose, notes of citrus blossoms, glazed pineapple, white peach and a hint of lavender develop. On the palate, it has a creamy texture, supported by subtle oak spice and a persistent finish with nuances of ruby grapefruit.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with spicy dishes such as Indian, Malaysian or Thai curries, but also with grilled fish, poultry or vegetarian dishes with creamy sauces.
Vinification
16% new 400 liter French, Hungarian and Romanian oak barrels as well as a combination of second and third filling 400 liter French oak barrels. All barrels underwent natural fermentation during the first 5-degree agglomeration inoculated with a commercial yeast strain to ensure clean fermentation to dryness. The wine was aged in barriques for 9 months and peeled regularly to develop a mouthfeel.
