About the wine
Alvaro Palacios, the legend from Priory, the self-made superstar. And Bierzo, one of Spain's northernmost wine-growing regions, which was preceded by a fabulous reputation due to the breathtaking landscape and the huge potential of great red wines. Now united in this project. But basically, the idea was created by Ricardo Palacios, his nephew. Ricardo was too close to Rioja, he was looking for a new challenge and found what he was looking for in Bierzo. The northwestern regions of Spain, including Bierzo, are known for their cool and humid climate. In contrast to neighboring Galicia, however, it is rather dry here, as the region is surrounded by mountain ranges of around 2,000 meters high. The mountains protect against rain and cold, Atlantic winds. The low amounts of rain force the vines to drive their roots deep into the soil, so that the wines are very mineral and ideally combine fruit and elegance. Some of the Palacios are located at over 800 meters around the village of Corullon. As a result, the nights remain incredibly cool despite relatively high daytime temperatures, and these strong day-night differences result in the complexity of the wines. All of these factors have prompted Alvaro Palacios to encourage and continue to support his nephew in Bierzo. Since the start of their collaboration, the two have only been concerned with quality and so they cultivate their vineyards biodynamically — a considerable additional effort when it comes to terraces. With Alvaro's experience and Ricardo's enthusiasm, extremely original wines are now produced here, which ideally combine southern European maturity with the elegance of continental Europe.
