About the wine

The Eguren family has been growing wine in the fourth generation for well over 100 years and owns several wineries, particularly in the Rioja and Toro regions. They are among the rare exceptional features that have mastered the entire keyboard of viticulture like hardly any other winemaking family, from mass to class, including numerous creative and independent projects such as Sospechoso and, last but not least, the parents of Spanish icons such as Numanthia. Tempi Pasati the Numanthia Termes winery in Toro was sold in 2007 but the story of a new fairy tale has already begun. Because with the proceeds, a new winery was founded not far from Numanthia: Teso la Monja. Ancient plots with vines up to 130 years old, excellent soils, modern cellars, great winemaker (Wine Enthusiast Winemaker of the Year 2012!). A promise that is fulfilled with every bottle!

Tasting note
Space flight - smelling this wine, for the first time, is a revelation, a vast world of scents. Beguiling dark fruits, cherries, plums, dates, chocolate, cinnamon, pepper, liquor, fascinating how this wine goes ever deeper and farther, dark but also sparkling stars, lots of warm spice, undergrowth, dark stones, ash, reminiscent of sherry, with lots of air, more width, more dark, cool notes, but never hard, always carried by the sweet, dark fruit - a long flight into dark space. Soft and dark on the palate, sweet yet of infinite intensity, which balance, of great length, ever expanding, becoming more differentiated, gently and silently flying minerality and tannins, then of great power.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler tip: Victorino Toro DO goes perfectly with lasagna, polenta and pizza.
