About the wine
Family-owned for 150 years, the Niepoort winery has been part of Portugal's absolute wine elite. The “Vertente” is the no less good but cheaper alternative to the classics Redoma, Batuta & Co.

Tasting note
The wine has a bright ruby red with a beautiful density. The aromas are youthful and complex, with notes of black pepper and red wild berries. Flavours of plums and cherries also stand out clearly. The wood is well integrated, in harmony with soft smoky tones. On the palate, the wine shows grip and energy, is complex and has a beautiful structure combined with finesse and elegance. The tannins are pleasant and provide a long finish with the present acidity.

Veal, poultry, turkey, fish, vegetables, barbecues, light dishes
Vinification
After rigorous selection, the grapes are transferred to conical stainless steel tanks, where fermentation starts — maceration and extraction are short-lived. Biological acid degradation takes place in French barriques, in which the wine ages for 20 months.
