About the wine
Jorge Ordoñez is a pioneer in the Toro region. In 1995, he traveled to Toro with the Eguren family and was impressed by the ancient, still rooted vines. Together, they founded Bodegas Numanthia in 1997 — still one of the region's flagships today. In 2007, the winery was sold to the luxury group LVMH. Shortly after, Jorge Ordoñez launched his own project with Bodegas Jorge Ordoñez. He is proud to produce wine from the oldest Tempranillo clones (Tinta de Toro) in one of the best red wine regions in the world.

Tasting note
Vatan Tinta de Toro has an intense scent of red fruits and dark berries on the nose. Fine floral notes, some menthol and fine coffee and roasted notes. Full bodied but elegant on the palate with fresh acidity and well-structured, long tannins.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with hearty meat dishes such as grilled lamb, braised beef or game. It is also an ideal accompaniment to aged hard cheese.
Vinification
After careful handpicking, the whole berries are spontaneously fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in French oak barrels, around 20% of which are new. The wine ages in barriques for 20 to 22 months.
