About the wine
The winery received its name in 1704 when the former owners returned from an exhausting trip to Cape Town, where they sold their wine, and found all their belongings destroyed by fire. Everything seemed lost... Since 1872, the winery has been owned by Fmilie Malan. Danie Malan is managing the winery in the fifth generation.

Tasting note
A deep dark ruby red with subtle purple reflections shines in the glass. A pleasant, intense scent of red fruits, blackberries and black currants awaits you, paired with a touch of dark chocolate, coffee and fine wood spice. The aromas are reflected on the palate and the powerful berry fruit appears very juicy. Tinta Barroca has a good body, beautifully integrated, grippy tannins and looks incredibly balanced overall. Very successful performance.

Goes well with grilled meats.
Vinification
The vineyards for this Tinta Barocca are 140 meters above sea level and face southeast. The grapes were harvested by hand in February and fermented with the skin at 25°C for 5-7 days and then pressed. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged for 18 months in new and used French oak barrels.
