Tasting note
Vivid color Sweet, fruity but very fresh with floral cherry notes. Bright and compact with a primary palate and nice fruit purity. Nice sour cherry notes on the finish of this grippy, detailed wine.
Culinary recommendation
Wonderful wine with lamb tagine with date cous cous.
Vinification
Syrah from a small bush vine vineyard (0.7 ha), which was planted in southern Stellenbosch in the “Treinspoor” format (high density) in 1999. The soil consists of decomposed granite with an underlying layer of “koffie stone.” A Syrah whose ranks breathe in the cool sea air of False Bay every day. The wine ages on fine lees for 12 months in older 400 liter, 225 liter barrels and concrete eggs. Slow fermentation of whole grapes under water, no new wooden barrels were used.
