Syrah Reserve 2021 - Stony Brook

The grapes for our Syrah all come from a very special, low-yielding block on our farm. After harvesting, 85% of the grapes were lightly destemmed, while the remaining 15% were added to the tank as whole grapes. Before inoculating, a two-day maceration was carried out before fermentation. After rapid fermentation, the grapes were pressed and set before the wine was filled in 2nd and 3rd French oak barrels for 28 months. TASTING NOTES On the nose, lots of dark berry fruit and black pepper, plus some violets, fynbos and earthiness. The palate has an intensity that shows fullness, but at the same time a bright acidity and firm, ripe tannins on the finish. A delicious wine that goes well with slow-cooked winter dishes or roast pork and vegetables. Enjoy now or within 10 years of harvest
