About the wine

Jim Barry has had a significant influence on Australia's wine history. It is thanks to his commitment and sense of community that the Clare Valley wine region is now known as one of Australia's best. Jim Barry was one of the first certified oenologists in the region. Together with his wife Nancy, he bought the first vineyards in the north of the Clare Valley in 1959. Nancy and their sons Peter, Mark and John contributed a great deal to the success of the company. Peter has been Managing Director since 1985 and today runs the winery together with his children Tom (Winemaker), Sam (Commercial Manager) and Olivia (Brand Ambassador). With the Armagh, Jim Barry has achieved a remarkable feat; this wine achieved cult status after just a short time! Although larger quantities of this plant could be sold, strictly limited quantities are still held to this day.

Tasting note
Intense berry fruit on the nose (blackberries, cherries, cassis) plus dried plums and figs with subtle hints of undergrowth and spices. On the palate, this red wine is pleasantly intense without being overloaded or even sweet. The alcohol content of 14% is well integrated, and the tannins are also soft and silky. A very tasty blend with full fruit and pleasantly spicy notes on the palate and finish.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Shiraz - Cabernet Sauvignon The Barry Bros passt ideal zu rotem Fleisch, Gruyère Burger und Pizza mit Pilzen.
Vinification
The grapes (100% from our own grapes) are crushed after harvesting and then kept cool. Fermentation takes place in open fermentation tanks. The subsequent 12-month aging takes place in French wood.
