About the wine
Rioja was a pure white wine region until 150 years ago — before the French brought the red grape varieties to the area. It is therefore not surprising that Bodegas Nivarius is completely dedicated to white wines. The cool climate at up to 800 m above sea level and the sandy soil produce fresh and fruity grapes with a nice acidity. The 61 hectares are planted with Tempranillo Blanco, Verdejo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Maturana and Malvasia, with the local Tempranillo Blanco being given the most space and attention.

Tasting note
Nivarius "means ice cream house. The wine was named because it is made from the local Tempranillo Blanco variety, which grows on the north side of the winery in the colder area of Nalda at around 800 meters above sea level. The resulting relatively cold average annual temperature produces fresh and fruity grapes. In fact, this single-varietal white wine impresses with its freshness, its mineral character and, last but not least, its fine-floral and balsamic notes.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with seafood, saltwater fish, pulpo or tuna carpaccio, lobster bisque.
