Tasting note
The characteristic barrel 18 has a bright golden yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, lots of exotic fruit, citrus, a pleasant spiciness and a bit of wet stone inspire. On the palate, the wonderful fruit aromas of exotic fruits, mirabelle, some rhubarb paired with an elegant minerality, lots of melting and mild acidity are pleasing. The location produces finesse Rieslings, with the blue-grey slate soil giving it an elegant mineral appearance. A profound wine that makes drinking fun at a young age, but can also be easily set aside for 10-15 years.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with fish dishes, white meat, spicy starters, Asian dishes, terrines or cheese.
Vinification
The grapes for this large plant come from almost 60-year-old vines, which grow on fine slate soil facing south with a slope of 70%. In the vineyard, particular emphasis is placed on integrated and environmentally friendly management as well as late and very selective harvesting. After mandatory whole grape pressing with partial maceration, the must is traditionally fermented spontaneously in large wooden barrels after preliminary clarification and aged on the lees for about 4 months. The wine has approximately 4.7 grams of residual sugar and 6.1 grams of acid per liter and a moderate alcohol content of 12.5% by volume.
