About the wine
Quinta do Javali is located on the left bank of the Douro near Nagoselo do Douro São João da Pesqueira. During the total renovation in 1985, 10 of the 20 ha of vineyards were also replanted with the finest grape varieties in the region. The grapes for the wines, which are bottled under the name Quinta, come from these vineyards. Using the traditional methods of the Douro region, typical quality DOC Douro wines are produced. The Quinta do Javali faces north, the annual rainfall is 750 mm and the temperatures are between 5 and 45°C. The vines of the varieties Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional grow on slate patamares between 150 and 300 m above sea level. A special feature of Quinta do Javali is shale mulch. There are 3500 vines on one hectare and the yield is 25 to 30 hl/ha.
