Tasting note
Open and complex in the scent, spicy notes, fruity aromas of ripe cherry, currant and wild strawberry. On the palate, firm and well-structured, dense and elegant. The silky tannins make the wine very easy to drink and long-lasting. A really cool cool-climate red wine from the Wachau!
Vinification
The Backstage line stands for wines away from the classic Wachau styles. Whether rare grape varieties, alternative aging or red wines from Pinot Noir - anything is possible! Pinot Noir yields are always very low. The Pinot Noir grapes are processed in two different batches or harvest cycles. One part is traditionally vinified in steel tanks with an automated impeller, another part is mashed in with feet and then manually pressed and fermented in the casserole. The maceration period is around 7 days. The malolactic fermentation and aging took place in new and used 300-liter wooden barrels for around 18 months.
