About the wine
Blooming and fertile Tuscan landscapes give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Petra conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Cabernet Sauvignon with Gruyère burger or ribeye steak.
Tasting note
The Petra cuvée is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties. It was pressed for the first time in 1997. For fermentation with juicy yeasts, 10,000 liter wooden stands are used. The wine is aged for 18 months in mostly used barriques (Allier, Nevers, Tronçais) and it takes another long time until the first bottles go on sale. The Petra shows a rich, complex aroma that is reminiscent of wild berries and tar. The Merlot grape contributes a spicy note, and the juicy richness comes from Cabernet Sauvignon. A red wine with aromatic density and a fleshy texture.
Culinary recommendation
Der Wein sollte in diesem Zeitraum genossen werden: Bis 2030. Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Passt hervorragend zu Pizza mit Pilzen, Ribeye Steak und Gruyère Burger.
Vinification
Die Vinifikation fand wie folgt statt: Die Cuvée Petra ist ein Bordeaux-Blend aus den Sorten Merlot (70 %) und Cabernet Sauvignon (30 %). Erstmals wurde er 1997 gekeltert. Für die Gärung mit safteigenen Hefen werden 10000 Liter fassende Holzstanden verwendet. Der Wein wird während 18 Monaten in mehrheitlich gebrauchten Barriques ausgebaut (Allier, Nevers, Tronçais) und es dauert noch einmal so lange, bis die ersten Flaschen in den Verkauf gelangen.
