Papiano di Papiano IGT 2021 - Villa Papiano

Centesimino is a rare autochthonous grape variety from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, particularly around Faenza in the province of Ravenna. The variety was almost forgotten and only rediscovered in the 1940s — by winemaker Pietro Pianori (nicknamed “Centesimino”) in an old, walled garden. He continued to cultivate them; their current name is an homage to him. Very redberry, sour cherries and raspberries, with hints of pickled plums, tea and a touch of licorice. Subtle herbal spice paired with a light, mineral note. Very accessible on the palate and easy to drink with fresh, expressive, red fruit. It is taut, elegant, engaging and animating. Fine-grained tannins and well-supporting acidity round off the pleasure. The Papiano is medium-strong and harmonious with a subtle mineral finish.
