Neyen of Apalta Valley 2017 - Veramonte

Neyen means “ghost” in local dialect. This special spirit still blows over the 120-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère vines and combines the two varieties to create an expressive wine. On the nose, intense notes of thyme develop, which are underpinned with smoky aromas such as leather, cedarwood and tobacco. The fruit is also very present and comes to the fore with cassis and blackberries. The start is soft and turns into a thick and juicy body. Now the true power of the old vines is also evident: concentrated but velvety tannins are elegantly combined with aromas of liquorice, vanilla, forest soil or blueberries. The complex aroma flows elegantly into the aftertaste and makes this great wine linger in a mystical way!
