About the wine
Vito Cantania, a successful Milanese businessman with Sicilian roots, inherited the vineyards in the mid-1990s and immediately began to build on the old wine-growing tradition again. The entire company was renovated and expanded from head to toe. The vineyards were reforested and from then on organically farmed, new working methods were implemented and very privileged vineyards were purchased in the Val di Noto. In no time at all, Gulfi with its fine, racy Nero d'Avola, reflecting the terroir, has become one of Sicily's leading producers and was voted Winery of the Year in 2012
Tasting note
Cheeky lout - from the hammock a heartfelt joyful one: The world can me! Casual and free, here for that, the soft, juicy, very dark, berry fruit, on the other hand, natural, spirited, earthy, leather, licorice, and then again this “Beautiful is life”, purple flowers. Young and free on the palate in an enviable way, lots of heart, soul and juicy the fruit, carefree, yet so blunt, no leaf in front of the mouth, dark tart, licorice, Mediterranean herbs, ethereal, simply free, and as good as then suddenly, in the end - life is beautiful - a bright, slightly exotic fruit sweetens everything. Just live, neither adapted nor overdone! Nero d'Avola at its best!

Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Long maceration period, fermentation with vineyard yeasts, ageing for 12 months in small and medium-sized French oak barrels, maturation for over a year in bottle, unfiltered.
