About the wine
Vito Cantania, a successful Milanese businessman with Sicilian roots, inherited the vineyards in the mid-1990s and immediately began to resume the old wine-growing tradition. The entire company was renovated and expanded from head to toe. The vineyards were reforested and from then on farmed organically, new working methods were implemented and very privileged vineyards were purchased in Val di Noto. With its fine, racy Nero d'Avola reflecting the terroir, Gulfi quickly became one of Sicily's leading producers and was named Winery of the Year in 2012.
Tasting note
Dropouts on the Hollywood swing. So relaxed, satisfied, what achieved, given, then out, relaxed dark fruit, and a now so pacified naturalness, the original, earthy, unconventional seems so healthy, pure in the soul, free on the outside, daring scent. On the palate, you have to achieve a reflected serenity, the dark, finely differentiated fruit and the earthy, herbal notes, including anise, so harmonious yet deeply interwoven into a mature, unconventional, differentiated, reflected and yet relaxed character, inner beauty. So good, looks as relaxed as it is reflected, quiet and free. So good
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled or braised beef, lamb with Mediterranean herbs, game ragout, pasta with spicy ragù, aged pecorino or hearty eggplant pasta such as Pasta alla Norma. Also great with dark chocolate with spicy notes.

Selective reading by hand. Long maceration period, fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts, aging for 24 months in 500 l oak barrels, aging over one year in the bottle, unfiltered
