About the wine

Juan Gil's latest project in Campo de Borja made people sit up and take notice from the very first years. As with all Gil family wineries, the working method is always the same: large thinning, only the best grapes, meticulous sorting and the best French wooden barrels.

Item no. 1201198
Tasting note
A profound, unusual wine with a mysterious, ethereal scent of cedarwood, tobacco, violets and roses. Full and soft with lots of fruit extract, fine-grained, with lovely warmth. Lingering in the mouth for a very long time, almost Christmassy with vanilla and oak wood. It is suitable for special occasions, with pastries or with a cigar.
Culinary recommendation
Vinification
The newest winery of the Gil family is located in Campo de Borja, is called Bodegas Morca and has set the goal of producing garnachas of the highest quality. The working methods of Bodegas El Nido (Clio/El Nido) in Jumilla serve as a model - that means large reduction of grapes, meticulous grape harvesting and only the best wooden barrels from France. The Morca comes from very old vines grown in the bush system and is read by hand. After 6 to 8 days of cold maceration, the must is fermented at 22-26 ºC in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 22 months. Each cask is tasted and selected according to strict guidelines.
