About the wine
With a lot of experience and sensitivity, the Famiglia Cotarella — Lazio winery vinifies this characterful Merlot in the sunny Lazio countryside. The 2021 vintage is powerful yet elegant — a red wine that not only impresses connoisseurs. Awarded three glasses in Gambero Rosso and 93 points from Wine Spectator, it impresses with its depth and balance. It goes particularly well with dishes with poultry, duck or even hearty pasta specialties.

Tasting note
Bright, rich ruby red. Diverse aroma spectrum. Ripe, red berries, subtle nasal sweetness combined with notes of warm and sweet spices. Fine roasted aromas. Perfectly structured on the palate. With rich tannins and perfectly integrated acidity. Again, warm spicy and balsamic notes, ripe berry fruit. Rich and distinctive, with a long finish and great aromatic persistence.
Culinary recommendation
This elegant Merlot can easily stand up to strong (meat) dishes.
Vinification
The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard with particularly strict selection and low yield. The grapes are macerated and fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks immediately after harvesting. After fermentation is complete, the young wine ages for twelve months in French oak barriques.
