About the wine

The Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Franc grapes come from the south and north sides of Ried Aubühl west of Höflein. Deep, calcareous soils from sandy-silt-clayey sediments from the former Pannon Lake, with loess portions in the southeast, characterize the wine. Cool forest influences give it freshness, spice and excitement.

Tasting note
Deep ruby red. Complex and precise on the nose with notes of dark wild berries, black cherry and ripe plum, underscored by spicy notes of pepper, herbs and fine tobacco. Juicy and structured on the palate, with fresh acidity, fine-grained tannin and mineral depth. Elegant, spicy and balanced with a long, invigorating aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Excellent with beef and lamb dishes, braised or grilled meat and game. Also ideal with hearty mushroom dishes, herbal cuisine and aged hard cheese. Its spice and structure make it a versatile companion for fine dining.
Vinification
The Blaufränkisch matures in 500 l of Ybbstal oak, the Cabernet Franc in 225 l French barrels — a total of 50% new wood, 50% used wood. After cuveting, the wine ages in wood for 2 years and in the bottle for another year.
