About the wine
This distinctive Mencia 2020 — Mencía Benquerido DO is a hit right down to the last drop in the truest sense of the word! Sunny landscapes in Galicia give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Spanish winery Bodegas Casa Monte Pío conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This mencia is ideal to serve with pizza or meat dishes with dark sauce and vegetables.

Tasting note
On the nose, lots of red fruit aromas, a nice minerality and a slight spiciness. Pleasantly fresh and light palate (only 11.5% Vol!) with great fruit, floral and balsamic notes, fine tannins and a persistent finish.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Mencía Benquerido DO goes well with meat dishes with dark sauce and vegetables, pizza and risotto.
Vinification
On arrival at the wine cellar, the grapes are selected a second time. The 100% whole grapes are then pressed and fermented at around 18° degrees. The wine is then aged for 18 months in used French 500 liter oak barrels.
