First vinified in 1983, the Magill Estate Shiraz displays elegant, medium-weight style with velvety texture and fine tannins, matured in both French and American oak. It is a smooth, contemporary wine, yet produced in the traditional way in the 170-year-old winery: by hand picking, vinified in open fermentation vats and pressed into barrels with a basket press to complete the fermentation. Dense dark purple in the glass. Very different... all in all, a very appealing and different Shiraz! You discover tomatoes, blood orange and cola. Aromas of dried flowers (violets, narcissus) continue to arouse curiosity. The oak is presented in the form of rose, sandalwood and cedar wood. There is also tanned leather and cloves. Juicy, fresh, elegant on the palate. A play of aromas of various citrus fruits (blood orange, kumquat, mandarin) as well as red currants and red licorice interspersed with a refreshing acidity (cranberries) and supple tannins.
